Chandler Farmers MarketChandler Farmers Market Review - Chandler, AZ

The Downtown Chandler Farmers Market is up and running after a summer hiatus and I must say I'm glad it's back.

In the past I've found it tough to get to the Farmers Market on a Thursday afternoon but I made it a point to get there this past week to check it out.  My wife and I have been Chandler residents for 7 years now and I can't say that I've been to the market more than a handful of times.  That's been our loss.

I specifically went to see if my favorite source for raw honey, Made By Bees, had the Arizona Wildflower version which has been sorely lacking in supply these last 6 months.  They did, which made the trip a success.  But what I found at some of the other vendors took it over the top.

What amazed me were all the vendors that were in attendance.  There was a good mix of food, arts and crafts, and of course the organic and local produce.

I purchased homemade tamales from The Tamale Store.  These are already gone from our house.  I'll have to buy more than 1/2 dozen next Thursday because they just won't last in our house.

I also purchased a fantastic meal, ready to eat for dinner that night, from Just Like Nana's.  Let me just say that this meal was very popular at home that night.  My only disappointment was with myself.  I should have bought a second "Rivera's Cacerola Azteca" because it was that delicious.  The Chile Colorado was my favorite and my wife really liked the Chile Verde.

I know I'll be back for weekly visits.  As the weather continues to cool, this will be a "go to" spot for Chandler residents to get their fresh produce and other goodies before the weekend starts.

I know the staff at DCCP(Downtown Chandler Community Partnership) is working really hard to make this a premier farmers market and as a Chandler resident I am grateful and will support our local businesses and vendors especially in Downtown Chandler.

One tip: Bring some extra cash as some of the vendors don't accept debit/credit cards and you don't want to miss out on something good because you don't have enough money in your pocket.
