Is posting to facebook on your phone while driving really that different than texting while driving? I would think that any form of using your phone while driving would end in the same result: reckless driving and endangerment to others. There’s no doubt about it- you need to pay attention to everything around you while driving, and by using your phone you take your eyes off the road and immediately become a threat. Texting while driving is already fully banned in 41 states, and banning social media is soon to follow.

Currently in Louisiana, a proposed state law is trying to make it illegal for anyone to post status updates or anything else to social media websites. This includes Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and many more. This Bill came from Law Enforcement who spent way too much time pulling people over for what looked like texting on their phones- but being told they were just “facebooking”.

Closing this loophole in the law would save many lives and put the eyes back on the road. To read more about the new bill in Louisiana click here

Please be considerate of others on the road, by focusing on the road and not our gadgets.
